World Events and How We and Our Sister Agencies are Helping: Ukraine

The Jewish Community Relations Council of Southern New Jersey - JCRC partnered with Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and hosted a virtual Update from Krakow on the Ukrainian Refugees with speaker Jonathan Ornstein, Executive Director of the Krakow JCC, on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

Director Ornstein talked about current efforts on the ground assisting Ukrainian refugees in Krakow and how we could help. He encouraged everyone to participate in the effort to donate funds which would assist in their greatest need which is housing of the refugees. While the JCC is continuing to keep the school open and be a support for Holocaust survivors, he now is full throttle into a refuge for all those fleeing from Ukraine, Jews and non-Jews alike with no distinction. If you would like to see the Zoom meeting recording, you may go to Jonathan Ornstein - Temple Beth Sholom!

Our Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey set up an Emergency Ukraine Relief Fund immediately when it was known that Ukraine and its people were in need. So far, $173,000 has been raised. To donate to this urgent cause, go to Crisis in Ukraine-Donate | Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey. Jennifer Weiss, CEO, and Harry Platt, President of our Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey will be visiting Poland to assist with welcoming refugees arriving at the border and delivering 15 duffle bags full of much needed medical supplies to the region. Stay tuned for a post-trip update in our next newsletter!
