BookMates Partners with Local Police and Volunteers for Literacy Engagement

We are proud of our BookMates -Jewish Community Relations Council of SNJ agency and all of their volunteers! The BookMates PACER program was recognized by the Camden City Mayor’s office on April 5, 2022 where Camden City Police Officers read to students at Forest Hill Elementary School in Camden, New Jersey.

Our JCRC staff and the BookMates Director Rhonda Shevrin attended the event with Camden County Police Officers, the Mayor of Camden, Vic Carstarphen, the Superintendent of the Camden City School District, Katrina McCombs, and other school officials all read books with the children! The Literacy Reading Program is an on-going effort to encourage children to read and develop an appreciation of books, art and culture enabling them to thrive within their local communities. We are in awe of and appreciate everyone's time and effort on behalf of the kids of our communities!
