The Middle East Institute is an annual conference designed to educate the community and foster understanding about current topics relevant to Israel and the Middle East through experts with varying perspectives and backgrounds. It is the Jewish Community Relations Council annual showcase event and fundraiser which provides the necessary funding for our Israel Advocacy Initiative, Understanding Israel program, Teen Training programs and our Israel Educational Forum.

In-person attendees will be requested to present proof of vaccination at Congregation Beth El.

Masks required.

Keynote Speaker:

David Friedman,

Former United States Ambassador to Israel

David Friedman served as the United States Ambassador to Israel from 2017 to 2021. Under his leadership, the United States made unprecedented diplomatic advances. Friedman was instrumental in creating the historic Abraham Accords. He brokered peace deals between Israel and five Muslim nations, dared to push against the accepted wisdom about Middle East diplomacy, and sought new ways to achieve consensus in this historically contentious arena.

For his efforts, Friedman was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and received the National Security Medal. He lives with his wife Tammy in Jerusalem and Florida.
